The report states:
"After approximately 5 years, the women who received anastrozole had a statistically significant 38 percent reduced risk of local and regional recurrence; cancer in the other breast; and distant spread of the disease, compared with women who received no further treatment.
However, there was no significant difference in overall survival between the treatment groups."
Can someone explain to me how these two statements relate? If there was a 38 percent reduced risk of recurrence, how could there be no significant difference in overall survival? If there is a decreased chance of recurrence, would this not increase survival?
Maybe I'm not looking at this correctly. Thanks to anyone who can help my muddled brain.

5/15 Complete fracture of right femur/Titanium rods both femurs
9/16 Start Evista stopTamoxifen
3/17 Stop Evista--unwelcome side effects!
