Color won't do it, despite what the article suggests. The color is just chlorophyll. In fact, the Spanish have a big reward out for anyone who can develop a test that will unquestionably demonstrate that an olive oil is olive oil.
The good news for people concerned about their balance of fatty acids is that the reason that olive oil is so easy to adulterate is that hazel nut oil has the same balance of fatty acids. The bad news is that you don't get all the polyphenols.
