Lets Go To The Movies

There are certain "must see" movies that although you may have seen them many times, you just have to watch whenever they are on TV.

Do you have any of these favorites? I'll start with my list:

Airplane or any thing Lloyd Bridges from this series.

Anything Mel Brooks: Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, etc.

M*A*S*H - The Movie

Any Leslie Nielson movie.

Every time I watch these movies, I pick up on something that I never noticed before, inuendos, plays on words, etc.

I learned something the other day when I saw an interview with Chloris Lechmann - Why did horses whine everytime someone said the name:

"Frau Blücher"

Regards
Joe

Re: Lets Go To The Movies

The Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart, Rambo movies, The Terminator, Dances With Wolves, Goodfellas, Tombstone (the Kurt Russell/Val Kilmer one). That's all I can think of right now. You're right, Joe, you do catch a little something new each time you watch a movie.

I am addicted to Broadway musicals. Fiddler, My Fair Lady, Les Miz (The London Anniversary Edition is the only one available, but it is my favorite.) Grease, Just about all.

Re: Lets Go To The Movies

Other oldies - Imitation of Life (Lana Turner - its worth watching just for Lana's wardrobe -OMG gorgeous) and of course - An Affair to Remember is a great one. And the Thin Man movies, especially the first one (The Thin Man) and the second one was good too (Thin Man Returns). The others weren't as good plots but made for the money since everybody was infatiated with Nick and Nora (and their terrier Asta).

I also like the Bishop's Wife (Loretta Young and Cary Grant). Dudley was a great character and a great name for an undudley character who was also a hunk.

Re: Lets Go To The Movies

For those who like the Wizard of Oz..When Christine had Gamma Knife, she actually goes into the macine and only her feet are sticking out. sorta looks like the Wicked Witch of the West when she was crushed by the building.

Becky...Oldies I LOVE WC Fields and Marx Brothers.

Re: Lets Go To The Movies

I love The Wizard of Oz! And The Sound of Music and the old version of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. I had this vivid dream when I was little of swimming into a pool of chocolate and drinking the chocolate along the way

Diagnosed on 02/18/09 at 38 with a huge 12x10 cm tumor, after a 6 month delay. Told I was too young and had no risk factors. Found swollen node during breastfeeding.

08/12/09 - bye bye boobies (bilateral mastectomy)
08/24/09 - path report shows 100 % success in breast tissue (no cancer there, yay!), 98 % success in lymphatic invasion, and even though 11/13 nodes were still positive, > 95 % of the tumor in them was killed. Hoping for the best!
September-October 09: rads with daily Xeloda
02/25/10 - Cholecystectomy
05/27/10 - Bone scan clear
06/14/10 - CT scan clear, ovarian cyst found
