Smile pain - arthritis or femera side effect?

Hi Wondering if anyone else experiences pain on getting up in the morning. When I wake up I can barely close my hands, extremely stiff and sore. Then getting up and walking is a little slow to say the least. I have also noticed aches and pains all over. I will ask my oncologist when I see him in November is this is common. Heck maybe I am just getting old which is a good thing let the old come. I have had pain in right shoulder for quite a while. They did an x-ray it was fine. Six months later it was still sore so an ultrasound was done which shows a big calcium buildup. They were going to order a bone scan but now that the US showed calcium that has been cancelled. By the way August 18th will be two years since my diagnosed. sheila I was very happy to read your wonderful news... love, peace and strength to all

A. I.'s (Femara, Arimidex etc.) can contribute to joint and bone problems. You might also want to discuss the possibility of osteoarthritis with your doctor. A dexa scan or xrays can diagnose osteoarthritis.

Re: pain - arthritis or femera side effect?

Thank you Elaine for answering my post. I will ask my oncologist about that when I see him. I had an US of my shoulder and they found a calcium buildup there. I have joined a gym and I am going to try to work on my fitness to see if this helps the aches and pains. Also does anyone on this site drink Essiac tea? I buy the actual ingredients in northern ontario where this originated and brew it myself. I drink one ounce per day. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Re: pain - arthritis or femera side effect?

Hi Jackie Thanks for responding re Essiac. That article was very good and says just about everything I have read about it. Flor essence is the essiac to not take because it has something in it like estrogen so I do not take that I only take the original four ingredients. I figure I will just drink one ounce a day, like the article says it can just be a psychological boost. One of my neighbours had very aggressive breast cancer 15 years ago and she drank the essiac every day. She had offered to make some up for me then but I told her I could not take anything while on chemo or other meds as I was worried of any possible interaction. I did pass my plan for drinking this tea past a pharmacist at the hospital and she said it was okay just not to use the Flor essence. Take care.

Re: pain - arthritis or femera side effect?

I saw the subject of the thread and my first reaction was "a little bit of BOTH". At least in my case. It is hard to separate things out sometimes. But I ended up with painful "trigger thumb" so we switched from Femara to Aromisin. Which I think is contributing to weight gain!!! Can't win! But the joints are less painful.
Keep the faith
