Prayers answered - I have cataracts -- much worse in the right eye. Eye doc said it's a very aggressive type of cataract that grows swiftly (I didn't know there were different kinds). He said I could almost do surgery now, but urged me to get a new prescription for my glasses & said that will help a lot & if it doesn't get too much worse, to wait & see him again in 3 months. If / when this new prescription doesn't help, then surgery will be the next step.

I told him I was worried about brain mets, but he thought clearly the cataract was the issue & the rest of my eye, nerves, etc. look okay. Of course I'd have to have a brain MRI to rule out tumors. (I had one last fall.) I'll of course tell my onc. when I see him in August & ask if he thinks another mri is in order too.

So, never thought I'd be excited about eye surgery, but all things considered, this is great news!

Glad to hear the good news, you have convinced me to have my eyes checked. Weiard My night vision has got better from the Dexamethesone but I am flat out reading the neswpaper let alone a phone book.

Love & Hugs Lyn

You remind me of a converstion I once had with Ginger Empey. She told me that she stubs her toe on a Monday and then calls the onc on a Tuesday to complain about "toe mets"

Never hurts to be too careful.

Warmest Regards
Joe

I had very blurry vision while on chemo. Went to the eye specialist and was told he has never seen permanent vision problems from chemo. Also not to get eyes checked for new glasses while on chemo as once the chemo stops eyes will return to normal. Don't know what a person is suppose to do if they are on continuous chemo. Hugs, Sandy

Kathy, how long ago did you complete WBR? My sister was just telling me this morning that her vision has improved quite a bit. Previous to WBR she saw everything in a "slight fog/hazy". She couldn't read small print and is now able to read...though it's still not completely clear, it's a great improvement, nonetheless. Perhaps you need to give it some more time. I can imagine it's quite frustrating. I know my sis, an avid reader, didn't know what to do with herself when she couldn't read, not even with bifocals. Hang in there.

How about blurry vision on chemo, post WBR, post gamma knife and on Decadron. None of the doctors will take the blame, so I'm lost as what to do. Its terrible at night. I hate to spend a tremendous amt of money for new "bifocals" just to have them change again. Any thoughts, Kathy
