Prayers working...latest news on Caryn
Caryn's #'s this week came down again! Considering that she was given a few weeks to live 5 weeks ago we're doing very well.
Her tumor markers have come down to 539 (from a start in the 1100's) and 199 (from 600's) and her bilirubin has come down to the mid 5's from 12! Her red count was very low as a result of the beating her bone marrow has taken so she went in today for a 6 hour blood transfusion.
She hasn't eaten anything in weeks but had some chicken broth over the weekend which helped lessen her queaziness. This allowed her to move away from the anti-nausea drugs which cause her to sleep all the time. She then moved to a tiny bit of rice the past couple of days with no negative reaction and actually tried a sliver of boiled chicked this evening WITH NO PROBLEM so far. She's still VERY weak and tired but definitely doing better than she was. GOOD STUFFFS!
I followed our Wednesday commitment and prayed tonight for Caryn and all of you this evening and will continue to do so.
If this miracle can continue for her then there's no reason to believe that it can't for anyone else as well.

Sept. 8 2008, 4CM area removed from mastectomy scar line. Proved to be B9.
PET/CT Scan-- July 2009 --All clear
August 17,2009 ---Had Port Removed
6 Years NED -- April 5,2011
DX'd with Melanoma left arm 10-10-2011

Eric, myself and many others are praying for you and Caryn.
I entered a prayer request for her at Silent Unity, which is a resource for affirmative prayer support-24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Sept'08~ MRI shows activity in brain mets, completed 5 fractions/5 consecutive days of IMRT to zap the pesky buggers
Oct'08~ dropped Xeloda, switched to tri-weekly Herceptin in combo with Tykerb, extend to tri-monthly Zometa infusion
Dec'08~ Brain MRI- 4 spots reduced to punctate size, large spot shrunk by 3mm, CT of torso clear/pelvis spot stable
June'09~ new 3-4mm left cerrebellar spot zapped with IMRT targeted rads
Sept'09~ new 6mm & 1 cm spots in pituitary/optic chiasm area. Rx= 25 days of 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the tumors.
Oct'09~ 25 days of low dose 3D conformal fractionated targeted IMRT to the bone mets spot on rt. iliac crest that have been watching for 2 years. Added daily Aromasin back into treatment regimen.
Apr'10~ Brain MRI clear! But, see new small spot on adrenal gland. Change from Aromasin back to Tamoxifen.
June'10~ Tumor markers (CA15.3) dropped from 37 to 23 after one month on Tamoxifen. Continue to monitor adrenal gland spot. Remain on Tykerb/Herceptin/Tamoxifen.
Nov'10~ Radiate positive mediastinal node that was pressing on recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing paralyzed larynx and a funny voice.
Jan'11~ MRI shows possible activity or perhaps just scar tissue/necrotic increase on 3 previously treated brain spots and a pituitary spot. 5 days of IMRT on 4 spots.
Feb'11~ Enrolled in T-DM1 EAP in Denver, first treatment March 25, 2011.
Mar'11~ Finally started T-DM1 EAP in Denver at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center/Rose on Mar. 25... hallelujah.

Diagnosed 8/7/08 with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, micropapillary pattern, Her2 3+, ER+,PR-, grade II, positive lymph nodes.
Received 6doses of Taxotere, Carboplatin with Herceptin continuing for a year...DONE.
1/28/09 Left Modified Radical Mastectomy, Right Simple Mastectomy.
Surgery pathology: No invasive carcinoma present and 17 lymph nodes removed all negative! Only small amount of carcinoma in situ in left breast.
March/April '09, Radiation to left chest wall.
Currently involved in Neratinib clinical trial.
