RESISTANCE TO HERCEPTIN & POTENTIAL REMEDIES

In a highly technical seven page long paper published in the may 2006 issue of Nature Clinical Practice Oncology the possible causes of resistance to Herceptin therapy are detailed in an updated & exhaustive review of available data (3 pages of references!).
While most of the text is likely to be incomprehensible to the majority of us (myself included) there are a few segments which are accessible to understanding & might be of interest to some members of the Forum.
In particular there is a list (table 2) of 15 experimental drugs in preclinical & clinical trials. Among those are 4 drugs in phase 2 trials which are targetting HER2 (CI-1033, Lapatinib,2B1,MDX-H210).
There is also a discussion of the potential treatments to overcome resistance to Herceptin.
The text puts some emphasis on special promissing properties of Lapatinib.
