Re: Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Danger Will Robinson...

Hi friends!
Sorry to be away so long. Just not feeling very good. Still wobbly... still a little nauseous... and tired.
Let's see...
Nothing new on body CTs - so I'm not a Herceptin wash out

No new lesions in brain but they did find some "floating cells" so no more Lapatnib. Omaya reservoir goes in next week. Still deciding what meds.

Fell out of/ off of the bed ... face broke my fall YIKES!... so my face hurts... is several shades of black/blue/yellow... but nothing is broken so... that's good.

Home again... since Tues. night... late. Good to be "out"!

Keep those prayers flowing friends! I can definitely feel the love!
I'll try to be better at updating.
Denise

Re: Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Danger Will Robinson...

I've been away awhile.
Oooohhh ouch! Hope your face feels better soon. Glad you're home though. Recoup is good at home (usually). I don't understand "floating"cells = no tykerb? How come? Glad to hear CT is clear and sounds like things are at least under control. Praying for an upward climb for you. Just stay off real ladders, doesn't sound so safe for you right now!!! Hugs

Re: Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Danger Will Robinson...

Face plant, huh? Hope you have some soft carpeting!

Glad they will go ahead with the direct approach to your brain treatment. The more this is done, the way is being paved for others.

You may need a bed rail that is like an "L" and one side goes under the mattress. Medical supply places have them. That is if your spatial awareness is not as aware as normally.

Prayers and healing thoughts coming your way!

Feel good, my friend,

Diagnosed: June 2010, liver mets. ER-/PR+10%; HER2+++.
July 2010: Begin Taxol/Herceptin. Eliminate sugar from diet. No surgery or radiation.
January 2011: NED
April 2011: Progression in liver only. Other previous affected areas eradicated. Stop Taxol/Herceptin after 32 infusions.
May 2011: Brain MRI: clear.
May 2011: Begin Tykerb daily, Xeloda twice per day for one week on, one week off, and Herceptin.
November 2011: Progression in liver. All other tumors remain eradicated.
December 2011: BEGIN TRIAL #09-093 Taxol, MCC-DM1 (T-DM1), Perjeta.
Trial requires scans every six weeks, bloodwork and infusions weekly.
Brain MRI: clear.
January 2012: NED. Liver mets, good riddance!
March 2012: NED. Developed SMA (rare blood clot) in intestinal artery and loss of sight in right eye due to optical nerve neuropathy. Resolved when Taxol removed this month.
Continue Protocol of T-DM1 weekly and Perjeta every 3 weeks.
May 2012: NED.
June 2012: Brain MRI: clear.
June-December 2012: NED.
December 2012: TRIAL CONCLUDED; ENTER TRIAL EXTENSION #09-037. CT, Brain MRI, bone scan: clear. NED.
January-March 2013: NED.
June 2013: Brain MRI: clear. CEA upticking; CT shows new met on liver.
July 3, 2013: DISASTER STRIKES during liver ablation: sloppy surgeon cuts intercostal artery and I bleed out, lose 3.5 liters of blood, have major hemothorax, and collapsed lung requiring emergency resuscitative thoracotomy, lung surgery, rib rearrangement and cutting deep connective tissue, transfusion. Ablation incomplete. This life-saving procedure would end up causing me unforgiving pain with every movement I make, permanently, otherwise known as forever.
July 26, 2013: Try Navelbine/Herceptin. Body too weak after surgery and transfusion. Fever. CEA: Normal.
August 16, 2016: second dose Navelbine/Herceptin; CEA: Normal. Will skip doses. Watching and waiting.
September 2013: NED, Herceptin only. CEA: Normal. Started Arimidex.
October-November 2013: NED. Herceptin and Arimidex. CEA, CA125, 15-3: Normal.
December 2013: Something brewing. PET lights up on little spot on liver; CEA upward trend, just outside normal. PET and triphasic liver scan confirm Little Met. Restart Perjeta with Herceptin, stay on Arimidex. Genomic sequencing completed for future treatments, if necessary.
January 2014: Ablate Little Met on the 6th. Happy New Year.
March 2014: Brain MRI: clear. PET/CT reveal liver mets return; new lung mets. This is not funny.
March 2014: BEGIN TRIAL #10-005 A(11)-Temsirolimus plus Neratinib.
April 2014: Genomic testing indicated they could work, they did not. Very strange drug combo for me, felt weird.
April 2014: Started Navelbine and Herceptin. Needed something tried and true, but had significant progression.
June 2014: Doxil and Herceptin.
July 2014: Progression. Got nothing out of it. Brain: NED.
July 2014: Add integrative medical hematologist-oncologist to my team. Begin supplements. These are tumor-busting, immune system boosters. Add glutathione, lysine and taurine IV infusions every three weeks.
July 2014: Begin Gemzar, Herceptin & Perjeta. Happy.
August 2014: ECHO perfect.
January 2015: Begin weekly Vitamin D Analog infusions. 25 mcg. via port.
February 2015: CT: stable.
April 2015: Gem working, but not 100%. Looking into immunotherapy. Finally, treatments for the 21st century!
April 2015: Penn Medicine. Dendritic cell immunotherapy.

Re: Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Danger Will Robinson...

Reposting this from SAD & VULNERABLE THREAD.

Falling out of bed, Denise, I am distressed for starters. Agree -- bed rail (like when the kids move from crib to bed) -- you definitely should get one of those.

Could you have vertigo???? Besides maybe other stuff going on???

They did the spine test???

Hate to bother you. Know you don't feel well. Nausea and vertigo kind of go.

Like sea sick. I use wrist bands for those (from drug store). Help...

My dghtr had vertigo, went to 4 specialists and they were puzzled as to what to do. Said she (of course) had the bad kind, not easy to fix.

Holistic chiropractor asked if she'd been eating a lot of sushi. She had. She said, You have parasites. Gave her a supplement for that, and in a short period of time the dizziness, etc. went away.

Just mentioning. Stranger things have happened.

Your tests so far as I/we know sound good. Unrevealing. Meanwhile, LOOK AT YOU! Black and blue and red and pink with some yellow no doubt.

I'm thanking Steph for her words in other thread:

I I googled the song she mentioned. It's below, for all y'all...

? Mandisa - Overcomer (Lyric Video) - YouTube

Valley's bring mountains...

IF WE LOOK UP...

FAITH IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES!!! Right, Denise? I KNOW you know this...

I demand your docs FIX YOU! Figure it out. Some help here, please!
Also look at link below (published on Feb 19, 2013)

Denise, did your hair blow in the breeze while in your bed when I let out my huge sigh of relief to hear from you? Bet it did, 'cuz it was a biggie! Steph's suggestion of a bed rail (home care stores have them) is a good one. Not sure what circulating cells mean. Will try to discover on the net. Glad you are home and will certainly keep the prayers going.

Andi, I LOVE Mandesa's "Overcomer." What an inspiring song! Makes my spirit soar!

Sending warm fuzzies, dear Denise.

Re: Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Danger Will Robinson...

Hey, Laurel. I've been to Hershey PA! Cousin lived in Harrisburg. Stayed at the Hershey Hotel. I NOW get it -- THE SWEET LIFE! Duh...

Denise, I have been searching for this for days.

Sharing with you, and All...

Love the poem. Love the song. Check it out.

And Ted, tuck her in good!!! No more falling out of bed or bumping your head, Denise!!! BED RAIL for sure. Easy fix. No going to the bathroom alone. Period. Not good. I am worried.

You need to get to the bottom of this.

I guess we all have circulating tumor cells after our tumors dry up and go away (and those are the lucky ones). Oh dear. Just don't fret about it all. Let it go. I am not one to let go of control, but this is a time for you to focus alllll your energy on healing (whatever the hell is ailing you!!!) and envisioning yourself dancing up a storm, partying, loving Life and enjoying your family. SEE it vividly. FEEL precisely what you will when it happens. LAUGH! What exactly will you be thinking as you're reeling about, in a good way, having fun and being healthy and well????? LET THOSE THOUGHTS KEEP CIRCULATING IN YOUR BRAIN AND YOUR BODY, and forget about the circulating cells, please. Let them wash away...

? You Are A Child Of The Universe - YouTube

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

I LOVE YOU, DENISE... Andi

I really, really love that Andi. I think I will print it off. Thanks so much for sharing.
Now Ms. Denise..please dont make us come there and bubble wrap you! Having said that, I also fell this week, but Im so ridiculous I was standing on my bed trying to change a lightbulb. I also face planted, but on the bed thankfully, and then bounced off onto the floor on my butt. o.O I was just fine, but glad that no-one saw my "fall from grace". I probably could have won a prize on Funniest Home Videos the way it felt.
Im so sorry you are bruised and feeling yucky. Im thankful that you have no new lesions or detectable tumor. It also bothers me that you have no tumor load, but all these symptoms. Maybe stopping the Tykerb will help?
I have a friend with Meniere's disease (inner ear) and she has a lot of the same symptoms. Idk if there could be a component of that here caused by medication or radiation, but thought it was worth a mention.
Im just so happy to hear from you. I will light a candle for you tonight and intensify prayers. Sending you so much positive energy and good juju and warm wishes. Big hugs...Im glad you are home.

Re: Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Danger Will Robinson...

Yes...what Andi said...let those cells wash away. I like the sounds of that.
I took myself out the other day, cuz I didn't see the door frame. You should have seen the eye print on my glasses.
Listen...I'm here with ya. I am praying for health and recovery for you.
I blame the dex for everything, so as soon as you're off the dex, you will feel SO much better!!!!
Love Jill

Denise,

Today's perspective -- your tumor is lashing out in its dying gasps.

And you are surrounded by love.
Hard to feel gratitude at such a cruddy time but you are making your way to normal!

My take, my prayer, sent with hugs galore,

Andi

'98 -- multiple mets to liver. HER2+ 80%. ER/PR- Raging, highly aggressive tumors spreading fast. New PORT. 9 mnths Taxotere Fought fire w/fire! Pronounced in cautious remission 5/99. Taxotere weekly for 6 wks, 2 wks off -- for 9 mnths. TALK ABOUT GRUELING! (I believe they've altered that protocol since those days -- sure hope so!!)
+ good old Vit H wkly for 1st 3 yrs, then triple dosage ev 3 wks for 7 yrs more... The "easy" chemo, right?! Not a walk in the park, but not a freight train coming at 'ya either...

Added Herceptin Nov '98 (6 wks after FDA fast-tracked it for met bc). Stayed w/Vit H till July '08! Now I AM FREE! Humbly and eternally grateful for this life-saving drug! NED since '99 and planning on keeping it that way. To hell w/poor prognosis and nasty stats! STOPPED VIT H JULY '08...! REMAIN STABLE... Eternally grateful...Yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skillfully curled) all worlds ... (e e cummings) EVERY DAY I BEAT MY PREVIOUS RECORD FOR # OF CONSECUTIVE DAYS I'VE STAYED ALIVE. Smile KNOWING you too can be a miracle. Up to me and God now...
