Another recognition of the potential importance of omega six in BC

Another article which deals in part with the potential importance of fats to BC and in particular Arachnidonic Acid AA derivates.

The first two items I have posted before, but the chart helps clarify where AA sits in the omega six pathway and begins to show the complexity of the chemistry it in effect controls. I have found it helpful to print it out and keep it handy as the substances listed come up quite often in technical articles on BC, and it least it helps gives some clue as to how it all links.

The third item is a new post. Selective quotes are shown below.

The point is that it all links back to omega six intake. The body cannot make omega six at its basic level - you have to eat it - how much the body has available to use or store for furure usage depends how much you eat in your foods - it is in greens, bacteria, algae and in large quantities in many vegetable oils - my point is that primative cultures without access to bottled oils still survive becuase these fats are almost universal at some level in all lving things.

Even the scientists recognise a very great deal is not known. I have no more than than very very hazy hazy outlines of a grasp of the subject.

- My simple mind suggests to me based on what it has read

* Omega six is heap powerful.

* Most people eat far more than more than their ancestors by huge factors.

* Cutting it down to a balance with omega three is not a huge sacrifice (which for most means taking additional omega three in food etc. as well).

* The health preventative rewards may be very significant.

I cannot point you to simple clear cut trials as they have not been done. The evidence is diffuse and widespread but for me convincing enough to take dietary action particularly when considering the relative up and down sides.

But I'm afraid until they do the trials you have to make up your own mind. I can only draw your attention to some of the material on the subject.

If you make significant changes to your diet please consult with your advisors.

ABSTRACT

Five-lipoxygenase inhibitors can mediate apoptosis in human breast cancer cell lines through complex eicosanoid interactions 1

arachidonic acid (AA)

................For breast cancer, the possibility of interactions of AA metabolites generated from inflammatory cells, epithelial cells, and stromal cells are highly likely, as these cells all have enzymatic machinery to metabolize AA...........

......This discussion relative to breast cancer biology may be particularly important in light of the broader epidemiological concern about the etiology of breast cancer relative to the contribution of dysregulation of fatty acid biochemistry. For this reason, despite the daunting complexity, targeting AA metabolism may represent a successful intervention strategy for breast cancer; this area merits further research...............
