Cancer detected in lymph node behind pectoral muscle
Has anyone had this occur? I was 3 years out from completion of treatment for HER2 breast cancer and a recent MRI detected an abnormality in the lymph node behind my pectoral muscle. Ultrasound-guided biopsy determined it was malignant. I am going through all the testing now to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else. Just wondered if anyone else had a recurrence in this area?

Re: Cancer detected in lymph node behind pectoral muscle
Hi Dakini,
Yes, I just had my cancer recurrence confirmed yesterday. I too, was almost 3 years out from treatment (3-2010) but didn't quite make it. Looking for a new onc. now and thinking of how much this sucks. Thought I was going to be OK!
Good luck to you and keep in touch.
Emelie

I'm sorry to hear this. Were you having any symptoms?

Re: Cancer detected in lymph node behind pectoral muscle
No symptoms at all. Just went in for my 6 month MRI and it was discovered during the process. I'm glad they were continuing to monitor me closely.

Re: Cancer detected in lymph node behind pectoral muscle
Yes, it certainly does suck but at least they are able to spot it coming back and respond quickly. I get the results of all my tests back on Monday and will talk with my onc regarding treatment. Hang in there. Don't give up the battle!

Re: Cancer detected in lymph node behind pectoral muscle
Hmmm...I hve never received any routine follow up MRIs. I wonder how many do? I think it is split....

Re: Cancer detected in lymph node behind pectoral muscle
I would really be questioning my onc about follow up testing. How did they determine that you had recurred?

Dakini52,
How's going? Have you and your doctor decided the next step yet?
