Thanks, Rich for the post.
I steer clear peanut butter because of the molds, fungus and aflatoxins it contains. It is considered one of the most toxic foods to consume because of this.
Peanuts are actually legumes (not nuts) which are grown underground as part of a root system. It is primarily due to the peanuts' direct contact with the soil that they become harmful, and even dangerous to your health. Actual nuts, like walnuts and almonds have strong, hard shells that protect them. The legume, peanut, has ssoft, porous skin. When the environment surrounding the peanuts become warm, humid and wet--as it does in most regions of the U.S. where they are commonly grown, a fungal growth occurs. The fungus itself is not dangerous, but the posons it releases, known as Aflatoxins, are.
This cancer-causing agent attacks the liver and is one of the most deadly food-bourne toxins in existence.
Peanut farmers have high incidences of cancer.
Frequent consumption of even low levels of Aflatoxin is associated with cancer. Even organic peanut butter grown in these regions contains it. If one must eat peanut butter, try to find a source in Mexico or Arizona (where the weather is dry). Almond butter is a great substitution.

Oh, Vickie!!!! I'll have to go into therapy for sure! I'm like a nut about peanut butter! I don't eat it all the time, but when I get a craving, I'm hard to get off track til I find my fix! I stopped for a short time when I lived in Dallas and was battling so many allergies.
Yuke.....time to grow up.....I was really hoping to be able to wait a few more years! Maybe I'll do it like steroids and go off slowly!

Hey, Vickie, will you let us know when you decide about the Tykerb/Ixempra? I'm prayin' for ya. Luv, ma

Hey MA, You don't have to go off peanut butter, but try to find some made in a very dry climate like Arizona or Mexico. Make sure the peanuts are grown there, not shipped there and then made into peanut butter. I know, I was such a peanut butter addict myself and I still miss it, but I've become so used to almond butter now that I don't mind as much. But, you're right, there's nothing like creamy or crunchy peanut butter. I'll let you know what I decide on the new TX. I'm going to cancel the upcoming one and wait another 2 weeks to really come to a decision (been praying alot and just enjoying life off of chemo). Another gorgeous day today and we just got back from the food bank, where we dropped off 20 bags of groceries. What a great life. Love and hugs, Vickie
