Can anyone tell me about skin mets? Do we HER2 ladies easily get skin mets - and how do they look like?
I have one tiny lump on my back- can this be a met?

As someone with skin mets, I must say the only way to really tell is by a biopsy. My skin mets present differently but for the most part, it looks like a rash. My onc said she would have never thought they were mets until they were biopsied.

Hi Norwegian, I don't know much about skin mets, but there are several wonderful ladies here on the site with skin mets, and the only way i've heard it described is like a rash. Get it checked out by your onc. and biopsied like Miss Kimberly said for your own peace of mind. Thoughts and prayers for you, Bill

Hi; I've been fighting skin mets for over a year now, and also at my first recurrence in 2001 had several skin mets that dissapeared with treatment. I've had them manifest as both a rashy area, and small bumps under the skin that enlarge and then the skin starts weeping, so I'd definitely get this thing biopsied if I were you, for peace of mind. BC mets usually mainfest in the chest/abdominal area, but are known to show up on the arms as well, and rarely the back. Don't want to scare you as it could also just be a harmless cyst. My husband had one on his back removed and biopsied at my insistence and it WAS just a cyst, but we were both relieved to know for sure.

Herceptin has served as the "Backbone" of my treatment strategy for over 6 years, giving me great quality of life. In 2005, I was privileged to participate in the University of Washington/Seattle HER2 Vaccine Trial.
