Great recognition of one of our own!
On an aside: the article mentioned that ONE THIRD of HER2+ patients experience brain mets! Is that true? Something new to obsess about?

Re: Article on our Her2 sis "hutchibk". (Brenda)

Here's a new article about brain metastasis and breast cancer:

http://www.medilexicon.com/medicalne...?newsid=211116

It didn't mention Her2 specifically. But higher grade is a factor for brain metastasis and Her2 positive breast cancer tend to be mostly higher grade.

However, keep in mind that everytime a research result is made public, the treatment method used in the research is already 2, 3 years (or even longer) out of date.

T-DM1 is on the horizon - and there are other new regiments. New stereotactc radiosurgery platforms can accuately zap brain mets without damaging the surrounding area as much as the older models.

Perhaps (haven't read the article you mentioned) the number refers to the metastatic ones when first diagnosed.
