Support for low platelets - say what again??

Timing is everything.... I know that I just read here about some complementary products that some of you are using for low platelets. After more than two years of non-stop chemo to keep my liver mets stable, I found out on Thursday that my platelets are dropping - as well as WBC and RBC -- and, of course, I have chemo brain which keeps me wondering about the good suggestions that you recently made in this forum. (I did find some red grape juice yesterday, but I'm trying to remember what the supplements were that some of you were using.)
Thanks for helping me to review your excellent suggestions.

I think, but am not completely sure ,that magnesium might help. If you do a search for Gina Popp's posts they have a wealth of useful information about supplements. There are lots of people more knowledgeable than me who may post with the correct info but I find magnesium helpful with all sorts !

Thanks for the update on Gina , I had been wondering how she was ! not sure if i was right about magnesium helping with platelets, I hadnt read about melantonin, which i dont think is easy to get hold of in the uk , but I definitely swear by my magnesium and zinc nappy cream !

You absorb zinc from the diaper ointment (if you use one that has zinc oxide in it - like Desiten).

I have heard magnesium is good for raising the platelets - probably from Gina but I take it because it is good for the bones.

Kind regards

Becky

I take magnesium also it helps with foot cramps and helps with calcium absorption although I was told not to take calcium within 2 hours of taking the magnesium so I take the calcium at night.

For those interested in raising their platelet count, please read the 10 posts in the following thread about the possible help in using melatonin (no garantee & check with your healthcare provider before supplementing):
