World News with Charlie Gibson

I just saw where a segment will run tomorrow about the progress (and new hope!) of the breast cancer vaccine on World News with Charlie Gibson (ABC). I quickly came to this site to tell all of you. I look forward to watching.
Seems appropriate as tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from my right breast. It is also my youngest daughter's 16th birthday! I told her last year that having my surgery on her birthday was good luck and it was!

Many hugs

Dr. Nora Disis

Dr. Disis is an old friend of our group and I am pleased to say that we supplied many recruits for her vaccine study but also for others around the country.

Hopefully there will be additional announcements at SABCS on various vaccines under study.

Hugs

MY blood ran cold when it was stated "when the drugs quit working and they always do..." something to that effect and I had a mini panic attack later. It's never-ending.
However, I am encouraged with all the advances that science continues to make.
Thank you for all the warm wishes regarding my cancerversary.
I am off to a Herceptin treatment this morning.

Wink

WHO said that about the drugs always quit working???
Let me at them! We have to set these people straight who are living in the STONE age of HER2 cancer care.

There are literally THOUSANDS of us now who are "Herceptin Babies" and some who are "Herceptin/Vaccine Babies" who are here BECAUSE the drugs did not STOP working. Maybe someday, but we have multitudes who are doing well at all stages of this disease.

So, Dana, keep the good news in the front of your mind, in spite of what you may hear. That is OLD news talking.

We are the enlightened ones.

Steph, I felt just like Dana when I heard that said. I think a few of us should email them about that comment. If you click on the video link I posted (above) you will hear then say that. I copied it and pasted it below.

>>>To stay cancer-free, she still takes the drug Herceptin. But she knows that eventually, in most women, the drug stops working and the cancer returns.<<<

I noticed at the end of this article, and the actual video they both give you an opportunity to write them. (See below)

If you would like to tell us more facts about this story, please click here to send the editors of ABC News a separate email with the information you have.

Maybe a few of us ought to straighten then out on a few things. For them to stress the point that in most women the drug stops working just is NOT right.
