Re: after aromasin

Maouno,
It is often frightening to lose the "safety net" of medications like Aromasin. There may be a place for some supplementation in addition to your diet. I would first ask, though, that you look at your diet for any areas of improvement. One thing we know in breast cancer is that diet appears to make a significant difference in prevention of recurrence. Diets low in saturated fat, moderate in healthy fats (like olive oil, nuts) and high in fruits and vegetables have been proven to lower recurrence risk up to 40% in some studies. Additionally, physical activity--working up to 30 min or more per day is beneficial. Achieving a healthy weight if needed is also known to be crucial in prevention. If you are doing well in all of these areas then I would consider adding a few supplements (omega 3s and vitamin D3). Tumeric shows some benefit due to its strong antioxident properties but may interact with some medications so it would be helpful to meet with a Registered Dietitian who could evaluate the benefits/risks of adding additional supplements.

Let your diet and activity empower you. These are your new safety net.

Best wishes,
