I am breaking new ground at my doctors office it seems. I am the only patient receiving Doxil and Herceptin! While I worry about heart problems, they will monitor me closely. I am at 50% EF for my heart so we are kind of pushing it, but I am young (33). I guess if the cancer doesn't do me in, the heart will. I have to try this because I am having so much anxiety about the mets going wild. I have lost 2 close friends in the last 2 months. For now, I will just go day by day, that's all anyone can do anyway.
I am due for my brain MRI too. After reading here about all the brain mets, I feel like a ticking time bomb is in my head.

You hang in there Lisa. I know what you mean about worrying about mets. I was taking Xeloda/Navelbine and had a new tumor pop up during that chemo. I go to Duke University Medical Center next week for a consultation. We just have to keep on going until they find the right combination of chemo.

Hugs to you from Virginia Beach.

Hi -
I have heard there are a few patients at my cancer center on this combo and the nurse I was chatting about it with seemed to think the gals were doing fine on it.
So, GO for it! Wish I had been able to - might have staved off my mets. I had the old Adria/Taxotere treatments and it did not work with my high grade Her2+++.
Keep us posted on how you are doing, ok?

Hi there, have to agree, go for it. I turn 50 on October 20, I have been having chemo and radiation constant since July 1998, aged 43. Herceptin for a few years now with various combinations and I had heart failure in October last year, I wasn't expected to live, AND GUESS WHAT, it was not related to any of my chemo treatments, it was while they treated my thyroid. I saw my Heart Specialist last Thursday and my heart is smaller, 2 of the failed valves are just about back to normal, the one left mitral I have had leaking for years is a lot better and my left ventricle infarcation is the best it has ever been 72%. I have never been under 50% and I have had a whole lot of toxic junk in my system. As long as you are monitired with an echo every 3 months try not to worry, apparently a short break off Herceptin brings it back to normal, or as normal is says Forest Gump. I was off Herceptin for 5weeks while I was being treated, only because I was due for a triple dose but went into hospital before I had it and then after being in hospital for 7 days by the time I got to have my chemo it was 5 weeks. Tumour markers still under normal.

Lo e & Hugs Lyn
