The researchers think this may be due to the lack of Melatonin secretion that normally occurs in the dark. Melatonin has immune stimulating and anti-cancer actions.
I take it at night so does my wife and my dog, Beethoven. The dog developed two spindle cell (sort of semi maligmant) tumours which recurred. After the first one He also got Melatonin. Ive seen this report before about night shifts and cancer. The recurrences of each showed no spindle cells. This is very unusual as spindle cell tumours 90% of the
time recurr as spindle cell tumours. Was it the Melatonin? Who knows but Beethoven the springer spaniel still gets it every night.
