Nice work on posting the description of Dimercept and the work of Gail Clinton at OHSU. I simply wanted to make clear that Dimercept(tm) is also known as Herstatin (tm). I first reported on this drug under my July 2003 articles of interest post but not much had been reported about the biological activity of this novel protein.

The Herstatin(tm) name reference is important because most of the information relating to this protein on the internet remains under the name Herstatin. I assume that the Dimercept/Herstatin work of Gail Clinton could step beyond the biological activity of GSK 572016. GSK 572016 is a dual tyrosine kinase inhibitor of HER-1/EGFR and HER-2. It appears that Herstatin is a natural kinase inhibitor of HER-1 HER-2 HER-3 and HER-4. Both 572016 and Herstatin act upon the intracellular kinase activity of the EGFR family of receptors.
