Unhappy One down and 5 to go...

Hello all, I had my first chemo on Friday Nov 30/07. I only barfed twice. I have been so nauseated for the last 4 days. I guess I need to get over the mind over matter thing and take the meds. I took the Kytril and the metoclopramide for the first two days as Rx. But I still need some of the Meto daily. I just hope that the first one is the worst and that now that I know what to expect that I can do the rest.

Hi Michelle, as you have learned, Mind over matter doesn't do to much to help with chemo. Take the meds before you need them. I made that same mistake too! You'll be feeling better real soon and I think the worst is over now because the main thing for me was the fear of the unknown! My best wishes for you and I'll keep you in my prayers.
Hugs

Hi Michelle,

I definitely second Susan's advice. Take your meds as directed. Once you have let the nausea set in, it's miserable. I learned my lesson the hard way too. I never had a problem w/ nausea after that!

Yahoo on one down! You are that much closer to being done with chemo and kicking cancer's butt!

Hugs,
Lexi

Hey Girl!
Take those meds. You don't want to give cancer one more minute of your time than you must! I repeat, take those meds! And have a great day!

Yes, you can do this BUT please take your meds. As Susan said "take them BEFORE you feel sick." Chemo will be much easier on you if you take those meds.

Glad the first chemo is finished.

Peace,

Mary Jo

I might have missed what kind of chemo you are doing...I did A/C (ugh!). First I had bloodwork to make sure I could have the chemo. When that came back OK, I took EMEND while waiting for the chemo nurse to get things set up. Then the rest of the nausea drugs as prescribed. I really think that the emend made a huge difference and I never experienced nausea. Lots of other side effects, but no nausea!! Best of luck to you!!!
