Hey Terri! I think you look great- cute hat!! I start chemo tomorrow, so I got my hair cut SHORT last week- I look like a 12 yr. old boy, in fact!! LOL Anywho, keep us posted, I'll be keeping up w/ your progress... I've lost 20 lb. since dx, but I'm really overweight, so I pray I don't gain much!! Blessings, Kelli

Too late....too bad... I heard!!! Bill is right, he knows!

BTW, I think you look really cute in your cap! Even if you did gain a few lbs, I just know you will still be looking good. That's fact.

Before chemo, my doctor told me to do what it takes to get through. If you want ice cream, eat ice cream.
He didn't know - then - about my lifelong love-hate relationship with food. Plus the steroids made me constantly hungry, and all I wanted was cheese and ice cream. I gained 55 pounds, but have lost it on Weight Watchers core program.

You will likely get puffy from the steroids, but if you stick to a healthy diet, I don't think you will gain a lot. I gained because I ate a lot of sweets and high fat comfort foods during treatment. I didn't worry that much about gaining weight and for the first time in my life, shopped at plus-size shops. I enjoyed those clothes. After treatment was over, I had very high cholesterol. Plus, more research came out about the link between staying thin and avoiding recurrence. So I went to weight watchers.

I gained weight during chemo also. But this time I am going to try to keep it. I am always underweight. It used to be because of my brain tumor. I think over the years, I have got so used to being a 'thin' person, I unconciously tried not to gain extra pound - not knowing that I needed those pounds.

I am 5'7", but only weigh 125-130 lb. Our local newspaper printed a short statistic one time about the correlation between weight gain and recurrence of breast cancer. I would think it has something to do with the hormone positive breast cancer. There is a small percentage of my cancer cells tested hormone positve, So I became alert. However, since I am truly underweight, I am going to try to 'eat'.

Exercise, exercise, exercise. I believe when we exercise, our body will maintain the right weight.

OH but I have been re-juvenated!!!

Showed up for treatment yesterday morning, stepped on the scale, and LOST 8 LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoo hoo! It CAN be done!! Mind you, this was ME concentrating on my diet and not letting my STOMACH tell my MOUTH what to do!!

I feel really really good about this. I have to keep my attitude positive and this kinda stuff helps.. YOU guys help.. BASEBALL helps!! I LOVE baseball fans-- no matter WHO their team is!

Infinite wisdom her2supportgurus: what does it mean when i'm almost done with my treatment, (2nd time around, no problems the first time) and my ears start itching deep on the inside (that makes you wiggle your finger in there and make pig noises to scratch it). THEN, my ears started popping like i was going up in an airplane. Then, my chest felt a little tight when taking a deep breath. then a few little hives broke out on my face.
The nurses were baffled because i was fine the week before, and they said usually a reaction happens right away. They watched me for 1/2 hour then sent me home. I took a benedryl and i was fine. Yes, i had benedryl prior to herceptin/taxol. Go figure.

I did find out what it means to be "extra" sensitive to the sun. I made an "effort" to stay out of the sun on sunday, but i still looked like i had been in the sun for hours with no sunscreen. It was WEIRD. maybe this reaction was a result of that. Any ideas?? Oh, and i'm not an "allergic" type of person. :-D

Swimmee, Thanks for that. I believe you do understand.

Thanks for all the compliments on the pic, guys seriously. I will be working hard to keep my sense of humor and hotness throughout this whole ordeal.

GO YANKEES (even though they are in next to last place)!

The Astro's owner, Drayton McLane, lives 5 minutes down the road from us. But my husband and I have no problem wearing Yankee's or Texas Ranger's caps around town. We are more of a Basketball (me) and football (him) fan. The town people used to (probably still do) get special buses to go down to the Astrodome.

Terri,

No idea what the ear-hive thing was. But loved your piggy image. The Dilantin rash I got was sooooo itchy. Even my ear drums itched.

For years my left ear has itched then hurt, way before BC. Hoped all the MRI, CAT and PET would show something. Even had the PET during one of the left ear pains. Nothing.

After the WBRT my ears were torched and peeled and peeled, even inside the ear. Took Q-Tips to clear out all the peel. I'd make whimpery piglet sounds when I did it! My kids thought I was nuts.
