In July 2012 Dr. Margileth explained his view of the potential benefits of using aromatase inhibitors for longer than 5 years.

Re: YouTube on AIs longer than 5 Years

Hi Paula,
Thanks for this posting. I have re posted it on an existing thread about length of duration of AIs, where there is a nice discussion going. Similarly, you might want to re post many of your "individual" SABCS threads on an existing thread (one started by Lani) on what was discussed at new SABCS. Just a thought! It is really helpful to be able to find all relevant information on one thread. Easier to process sometimes as well as find later. Have a great holiday !

Re: YouTube on AIs longer than 5 Years

This makes sense to me. I just wish I qualified for the treatment. I had a very special friend several years ago who had estrogen positive breast cancer. Even though her tumor was quite large and was still not detected on mamo, she did very well. My late husband was her pharmacist. When her dr. took her off Tomoxifin because her five years was up, my husband tried to convince her to stay on it. She did not and within two years had mets to the brain.

I hope if this is an option for you, you will do this.

Re: YouTube on AIs longer than 5 Years

Thanks, Paula.

While the ATLAS trial showed that taking Tamoxifen for 10 years has benefit, it will be interesting to see in four or five years the results of the trial involving Arimidex.

Margileth is my kind of guy. I like his approach. He's flexible. Oftentimes, oncologists will not deviate from the standard of care, regardless of a patient's particular circumstances.

One way to retrieve postings on the same subject is to use the 'Search' button on the top maroon bar. The keyword 'Estrogen' returns more postings than 'AIs'. Be sure to click the circle to the right to search for posts instead of threads to get more returns.
