bleeding nails???

a friend is taking Tykerb/Lapinatab (spelling?) and her nails bleed spontainiously if she writes anything. Has anyone had this? has anyone solved the problem???
I'm on Herceptin and my nails never grow and I have severe skin problems but don't have this bleeding nail thing which is very troubling.
I would greatly appreciate any imput as this seems very difficult to live with even though of course it's great that she's getting tykerb.
many thanks
sarah
ps she has inflammatory breast cancer, HER2 +++, ER-

Hi Sarah, that sounds nasty for your friend. I was in my gym today and saw an ad for various different 'Jessica' nail treatments, for splitting, brittle, tearing nails and so on. I've never been a manicure kind of gal, but am considering having it done, as my nails are weak after chemo and Herceptin. Don't know if that will help, or if anyone has even been advised against having this kind of thing done?
Best wishes to you both
Caroline
