breast pain

I have had my one year old granddaughter visiting for the past week and a half. I'm not sure how much she weighs, I'd say at least 25 pounds. I've noticed that my lumpectomy scar, and the area around it hurts a lot. At times like someone is stabbing me with a knife. Does anyone know of a weight limit we should follow? I had snb and only 2 nodes removed. No swelling or anything in arm. Just the pain in the breast.

Hi Juanita,

I every now and then will get an ache in my surgery area if I over do it.
It takes a long time to recover - between surgery and radiation.
It is tender and more pronounced when you are over doing. I'll bet
your having lots of fun with that pretty little gal and not getting as much
rest as normal plus picking her up and lots of movement that your body
is not used to. Keep an eye on it if it is just muscle strain it will lessen in a few
days (like mine does) any pain over 2 wks. I would see a dr.

Enjoy that baby doll.
Hugs,
Jean

I still have a lot of pain around my surgery site and lymph node area, although I had a lot of lymph nodes removed. My Oncologist said it's scar tissue, which I can feel. It's been a year and a half since my surgery and it still hurts. I massage it often which seems to help with the pain..sherryg683

I had my chest ct today for the pain I've had in my rib. Right after the ct I went to see the rad onc who'd scheduled it. I do have a broken rib. It has seperated where the rib meets the sternum. He said that it could be from a bump, or turning wrong. The painful bump on the rib that I feel is calcium building up where it's healing. He said it might be another 8 weeks before it's healed completely. And the pain in my breast is from overdoing it. I am supposed to watch what I do. So I just walk slower and not carry Dilly as much.

Juanita,
Glad that you had the CT scan...sorry that your rib is broken. Did your rad
dr mention that radiation could weaken the ribs? Often time we don't realize
how much strain we place on ourselves such as bending down and lifting
a baby up and placing on our hip.

Wishing you fast healing,
Hugs,
Jean

I knew that the ribs could weaken, they really emphasized that when they went over any side effects before I started rads a couple years ago. And he wasn't sure if the rads had anything to do with this, but said it was possible. So now I guess I just have to be more careful of what I do.
