An incredible result
So, November 2nd 2009, my wife, Nina, was told that she had a tumor larger than 2 inches (6 cm) in diameter in her brain. The high number of tumor cells in the csf were Her+. After two weeks of visiting major cancer centers, MD Anderson was the site where she had surgery, radiation, and systemic chemotherapy. Two years later, 25 to 30 lesions were found in spinal cord nerves at the waist line. The prognosis said 0% chance of living 4 months. The back was radiated and intrathecal hrrceptin and Topotecan was started at a dosage never tried. Systemic treatments were started and stopped, finally settling on Enhertu. Fast forward to two weeks ago. The last of the tumors has shrunk in size and the tumor cluster has holes in it, with roughly half of the remaining tumor looking like lace due to all the holes in it. Nina is noow considered in remission. She beat the impossible. Don't give up hope. 15 years ago, there was no path forward. Nina was the pioneer, showing others the path.
Unfortunately, the story had a set back on February 20th 2023. Nina fell and damaged her cerebellum. She is wheelchair dependent and has Short-term memory issues. Nina is still in recovery mode.
