Hey, Tiptoe! The day may be coming when you can come out of hiding, no longer fearful

they are coming to take your ovaries!!!

for those unaware who Tiptoe is, she is our mascot CHINESE HAMSTER.
All those who have benefited from herceptin have CHINESE HAMSTERs to thank as the antibody Genentech produces is 99% human and 1% from Chinese hamster ovaries. (I doubt the hamsters benefited from having their ovaries removed….rather the hamsters were "removed")

Here is the news that the valiant Chinese hamsters may someday no longer have to give their ovaries (or their lives) in order to manufacture monoclonal antibodies for her2+ humans.

By the way, Dr. Ronald Levy has been talking and writing about using tobacco plant leaves for the manufacture of monoclonal antibodies for at least 20 years
