Any stage 3 people are participating in vaccine trials? If so where? I will be on herceptin for a year. But would like to get a vaccine simultaneously if possible.

Thanks!

I saw my oncologist today and he has a vaccine that he thinks I should do if I qualify. He had it on his desk but couldn't put his hands on it while I was there so he will find it and get it to me. It is in Maryland I believe, and I am stage 111b IBC. That is all I know at this point. hugs, Sandy

Michele U is working on getting into one. I'm IIIC and have been considering both the Windber and Seattle trials. I believe both of them have trials open to Stage III. I'm trying to understand the differences between the trials, early results, and which one would be more beneficial, as well as minimze time away from my family.

I am stage IIIB. Look at my post under the clinical trial message board. I am trying to get into the Windber (PA) trial. If you have military benefits, you would participate at Walter Reed in DC. As of Jan., they will allow you to take herceptin concurrently but you are not allowed to be in any other trial.

I called windber trial today and found out that they are not allowing concurrent herceptin usage with the vaccine. They said the principal investigator thought if Hercptin is used simultaneously it is difficult to figure out the cause of the side affects. I am confused now how other people are participating while on Herceptin.

Thanks
