SCOTS scientists are on the brink of developing a cancer wonder-drug to target tumours and order them to stop growing.
Researchers at Edinburgh University say they have harnessed the power of molecules capable of pinpointing cancer-causing cells and switching them off as they divide into tumours.
They have spent three years developing the cancer-busting technique in their laboratories - and say the development of a drug is not far away. The researchers have found a way to mimic the components that make cells divide into cancerous growths - and send them in to shut down the process.
They say the discovery could revolutionise the way cancer is treated by pinpointing the cells causing deadly growths.
