Question Each Cycle Of Tch Get Easier?

No I am NOT complaining here...But I just finished my fourth round of TCH and I have a RIght Modified Radical Mastectomy scheduled for Late April and then last two rounds of TCH followed by the year of hereceptin....My qestion is...with the first three cycles I was so sick.... never had been that sick in my life... tired, achey, throwing up both ends, runny nose, dry eyes, that good ole metal taste in the mouth.etc.... But this time I am just feeling really tired and maybe a little achey.... does it get easier with each one? DOes the body get use to having poison in it.... and adjust automatically? DOes that mean that when I take this time off for my surgery and wait another 4 weeks for my body to heal before they start those two remaining cycles.... that it will hit me that hard again? Getting anxious, nervous and yet ready to get this cancer out of my body.

SOrry to say .. it's cumulative. My onc kept warning me about these. Have you been able to get better nausea meds? I used Immodium to control the diarrhea. Aches and pains I used Tylenol (or a pain med). Dry eyes: I used eye drops several times a day (and several times each night). And for the metallic taste: I was SO glad it wasn't the "disgusting taste" that I just ignored it (*smile*).

Good luck getting through this. I had my 6th TCH on Dec 27. It DOES end!!!!

Strangly enough I found the 3rd treatment the hardest and in fact was
dreading the rest...but the 4th went better and so did the 5 and 6th..
The worst was the 3rd and I have heard from other ladies the same
experience. But do know that your treatment is killing those nasty
cells....best of luck with your surgery and then success with your
tCh.....all will go well..

Hang in there is a great light at the end of this tunnel.

Hugs,
Jean

Sure goes to show not to anticipate the worse because it may not happen (*smile*). Cycles 2-4 for me were dead easy (from what I remember). I was prepared for sides and hopped on them right away and they were never bad. I just got TIRED cycles 5 and 6 -- I think that's why I remember them as bad.
