Interesting physician blog on breast cancer

I especially enjoyed the 9/6/2010 entry "Putting Breast Cancer Out of Business". It is hard to not argue that this may very well be the reason we don't have a cure. Dr. Ruddy believes 40% of breast cancer is caused by a virus and that these can be prevented by a vaccine. I hope she is proven right.

Re: Interesting physician blog on breast cancer

Thanks for the post Nancy.
The virus theory seems to have been around for a while. Wouldn't it be amazing if 100% of bc was virus caused!! Interesting that some spontaneous remissions of cancer seem to involve a 'new' bacteria or virus waking up the immune system.

Re: Interesting physician blog on breast cancer

Interesting. With both my parents afflicted with cancer, the sole focus on one type gets on my nerves after a while. I know this is a breast cancer site..a subset of it to boot. But I much prefer research going towards eliminating all those stupid ribbons via a common achilles heel. They must have something in common..all ribbons, right?

Ah well...

Have begun compiling viral therapies HERE

Re: Interesting physician blog on breast cancer

Nancy,
The theory of a virus is an intereting one.
Cancers are highly individual from a genetic and molecurlar perspecitve. It would be wonderful to have a vaccine -

I have a few discussion with the dr. on a vaccine for breast cancer and at this time they all just shake their heads back and forth. Many people can be infected with a cancer causing virus, and never get cancer. The virus only causes cancer in certain situations.

There is early research being done on bacteria as some researchers think bacteria plays an important role in causing cancer in certain people. This is a very interesting topic and the future years hopefully will produce some valuable information. Ahhh if only all could be solved and cured with antibiotics, so getting rid of the infection could be a way to reduce the risk of certain types of cancer.

Please let us know what Dr. S says in December.

thank you.
Jean
