Re: Joe passed on this evening

I am shocked, stunned and saddened by this horrible news of dear Joe's passing.

I, along with most everyone else on this board, it seems, had no idea that Joe was ill. How brave of him to keep it to himself...

My prayers go out to Christine and the entire family.

(:

Re: Joe passed on this evening

This is such heart wrenching news. I had no idea Joe was ill, but am not surprised that he wished to spare others any concern.

I never had a chance to meet Joe in person, but worked with him over the last year developing the new website. I know he was very proud to go live with the site in January. It is his legacy.

The work that Joe and Christine have poured into this site has grown into a source of knowledge, support, friendship, love and sometimes refuge for so many of us.

My thoughts and prayers are with Christine and the girls and all who were enriched by Joe's outreach.

Re: Joe passed on this evening

Dear Christine, Dannielle and Debra,
Such sad news. You already know how much Joe meant to so many. How proud you can be of him, a man who gave his entire heart and soul to many.
Truly an angel to all of us.

So like him to keep his own illness quiet so as not to upset others. We do not get to meet many amazing
people, I am honored to have met him.

Re: Joe passed on this evening

Christine, Danielle, Deborah
And all of my Her2 sisters

I have no words, only tears. But also smiles - I can so envision Joe sticking out his tongue and mooning you!

Joe was so relentless in his advocacy - he was like a tsunami that nothing and nobody could stand against.

And always, always....so alive!!!

I feel like I know you, Danielle and Deborah having heard all his tales at San Antonio. And I'm smiling still at his stories of how he wooed Christine!

Wishing all of us, but especially you, love and comfort.

Joe is I'm sure taking up the cause with a higher power now.

I was so shocked and sorry to read this news. Please know that you and your family are in my heart. And as many have said, tears are being shed.

What a legacy your Dad has left. I've only been on the board for a year and I remember him personally responding to one of my questions.

Rest in peace, Joe. I know you will continue to watch out for us.

Re: Joe passed on this evening

Like most of you, I'm stunned. And crying. Joe was The Man. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I haven't been able to visit the site as much as I'd like to, due to computer problems, and just yesterday I was thinking about a PM Joe sent to me awhile back about my avatar pic. He liked it and it reminded him of a pond in Jersey that he used to go to. From time to time I would make little joke postings on the site about Joe and I getting together for a few beers and a couple ribeyes off the grill, and I always hoped that one day we would. Even though most of us never met him, you could just feel that heart of gold shining through in every post he made. He was truly an amazing man and will be missed.

Re: Joe passed on this evening

Danielle,

I'm sorry to hear this news. Your dad sounded very upbeat when I spoke with him in June even though he wasn't well.

Please tell your mom that my thoughts are with her and your family. I'm glad I stayed with you and her in Chicago, but was disappointed that your dad was not well enough to attend ASCO. I enjoyed meeting your parents for lunch a few years ago in New Jersey.

Your father did a tremendous amount of work for our cause. He will be missed. Besides Dr. Slamon, he's the other HER2 guy.

Joan

Re: Joe passed on this evening

Standing with my her2 sisters and brothers, I, too, say THANK YOU to Joe and you his family for sharing yourselves the way you have. Joe and Christine gave of themselves so unselfishly and always with graciousness and love for others. God speaks of "not letting your left hand know what you are doing" (Matthew 6:3) reminding us that doing good deeds does not have to be announced....your Father in Heaven knows what you are doing. That was their style........it doesn't surprise me at all that Joe wouldn't want to "burden" (he would see it as a burden) others with His illness.....his way is to do for others and not want attention drawn to himself. That always came through loud and clear when reading his posts.

God's Peace and comfort to you Danielle and your precious family! May memories of the good man your father was be what brings you smiles.

Love and blessings,

Mary Jo

I'm so shocked and sad to hear this news. My memory of Joe is how very proud of his "girls" he was. Such love and pride of his 3 special ones. He has given so much and accomplished so much for each of us through his hard work and committment. It does seem so very unfair for this disease to take him. Love and prayers to you Christine and to the girls. Joe will be so very missed. ma

Re: Joe passed on this evening

My heart goes out to Joe's family.

I have been blessed by Joe's life, as he and Christine provided a family here on Her2 support.

The quality of life is always talked about for cancer patients and I just want to say Joe has given me something no chemo could give me.

My life is better and will always be better, because of Joe.

I will fight on.

Re: Joe passed on this evening

Danielle,
Mom called me this morning. I'm heartsick for the four of you. I wish I could be there to help.
Your Dad was so proud of your patience and love in caring for him. My love and prayers to you. I'll call on Saturday.
