Roche's Xeloda, Avastin in combination offer cancer patients clinical benefit
12.15.06, 8:43 AM ET

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AFX) - Roche Holding AG said new data suggests that its Xeloda and Avastin drugs in combination as first-Line treatment for HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer may offer clinical benefit for patients who have no prior history of treatment.

These new data were presented at the annual San Antonio breast cancer symposium.

Roche said that 72 pct of enrolled patients experienced a clinical benefit as a measure of response rate and stable disease.

Furthermore, the combination regimen was well tolerated by patients, with the majority of adverse effects being mild or moderate.
