Question Any suggestions for low energy?

Hi Girls,

I have a friend who has a step-daughter who went through chemo treatments for Her2/neu breast cancer. She was on Herceptin for a while but got taken off of it for it was hard on her heart. She has been done with treatment for nearly 2 years now. She has very low energy. Can anyone suggest any herbs , supplements or foods that may help her regain some energy?

I too Her2/neu.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Michelle

Sorry but I don't have anything to recommend. Just wanted to see how her blood counts were? Are they all the way back up to normal? Has she been put into chemopause? Has she talked to onc about this? Hopefully she feels better soon.

I read an article in First magazine that said many women are lacking in magnesium which causes fatigue. Let me know if you are interested in more information... I'll look for my magazine and send the info to you.

Vitamin B12 also can help with energy levels. It's available in tablets, or dissolving pills, or can be gotten via prescription in injectable form.

low energy can be a sign of depression or a sign of thyroid problems. Both of these are common in bc survivors.

Have her get her blood counts checked. Other than that the B12 should help. Also, walking is a great exercise and will gradually build up her energy level. Start off slow and just work up.

Smile Depression could be a big factor.

I'm guessing (don' know for sure) that her blood counts should all be normal by now. I will suggest to my girlfriend that her step-daughter take B12 and magnesium and possibly think about a thyroid test. Depression could be a be factor cause my girlfriend said this girl is "depressed about the weight gain while on steroids", plus being diagnosed just after the birth of her child which means she also didn't get the chance to loss her pregnancy weight also.
Thank you Juanita, Karen, Esther, Laurie & Kate. You girls are great!

Sure Karen, I would like some more info from your magazine if you have the time. Who knows , I also suffer from fatigue being on Tykerb/Xeloda. Most days I need a hour power-nap to re-energize.

Thank you again everyone!
