Re: Taste Alterations in Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy: A Neglected SE?

YES!!! This is one of my biggest challenges with patients (not just breast cancer). I always tell my patients that this is one of the most common side effects I see and unfortunately it is one of the few things we do not have a drug to treat the symptom. Of course, I always look for oral yeast which can greatly alter taste and is easily treated. Otherwise, I rely on "tricks of the trade" using sour, vinegary, citrusy flavors to mask the "bad" taste. This is often difficult with mouth sores or tenderness are also present because each of the above solutions burn sore mouths. I am excited to see someone acknowledging that this is a problem! Thank for posting.
