Tiptoe meditates - sends healing energy
Good evening everyone -
Our Herceptin mascot and her traveling companion the Tykerb Tiger arrived at my house today.
Just want you all to know that the energy is flowing well after their trip across the country from Lily's house.
Since we have a number of Chinese artifacts and furniture in our home, Tiptoe felt immediately at home. Naturally she gravitated to the little Buddha and has some alone time there.
P.S. Not sure, but the scarf may have come from Sheila. That is a HER2SUPPORT B/C pin on the scarf. Hope the mantra is working!

MY STORY SO FAR ~~~~
Found suspicious lump 9/2000
Lumpectomy, then node dissection and port placement
Stage IIB, 8 pos nodes of 18, Grade 3, ER & PR -
Adriamycin 12 weekly, taxotere 4 rounds
36 rads - very little burning
3 mos after rads liver full of tumors, Stage IV Jan 2002, one spot on sternum
Weekly Taxol, Navelbine, Herceptin for 27 rounds to NED!
2003 & 2004 no active disease - 3 weekly Herceptin + Zometa
Jan 2005 two mets to brain - Gamma Knife on Jan 18
All clear until treated cerebellum spot showing activity on Jan 2006 brain MRI & brain PET
Brain surgery on Feb 9, 2006 - no cancer, 100% radiation necrosis - tumor was still dying
Continue as NED while on Herceptin & quarterly Zometa
Fall-2006 - off Zometa - watching one small brain spot (scar?)
2007 - spot/scar in brain stable - finished anticoagulation therapy for clot along my port-a-catheter - 3 angioplasties to unblock vena cava
2008 - Brain and body still NED! Port removed and scans in Dec.
Dec 2008 - stop Herceptin - Vaccine Trial at U of W begun in Oct. of 2011
STILL NED everywhere in Feb 2014 - on wing & prayer
7/14 - Started twice yearly Zometa for my bones
Jan. 2015 checkup still shows NED
2015 Neuropathy in feet - otherwise all OK - still NED.
Same news for 2016 and all of 2017.
Nov of 2017 - had small skin cancer removed from my face. Will have Zometa end of Jan. 2018.

Lily Diag April/06 5 months after give birth my son Max stage IV mets on liver (5 tumors) 38 year old, her2+++ and ER+PR+ from32 nodes 4 positives mastectomy right breast chemo before surgery herceptin/carboplatin/taxotere ,clear and surgery have radiation 20, `& then herceptin and tamoxifen NED until Aug/07 body only then 'n June 04-06-07 .1 lesion of 1.6 cm on cerebellum ...novalis ,open sugery 5m.m brain met again novalis, 4mm.In the liver. Waiting 2 months now 3 tumors enroll on T-MCC trial start first infusion Nov 5/07 at Dec 17 scan show one tumor despair the 2nd and 3th diminish Doc said great results until March/08 ct scan show progression 03-05-08 start tykerb & xeloda

Tiptoe's HER2SUPPORT story.
For anyone who doesn't know the story of Tiptoe (this is the name on her tag from the maker), she is a Chinese hamster, from which Herceptin is derived.
We found out she was a Buddhist some time back, among other personality traits.

Glad to see TipToe is in good hands, and Tex....yes the scarf and pins were from me...those cold Illinois days! Make sure you get some pics of them with Christine and Joe when you head south.....GROUP PHOTO would be nice!!!!!!

Dear Her2 members -
We are having a great time with StephN and her family.
Yesterday we visited their wine shop and learned about real Champagne!
Then we went to a gourmet dinner with 20 people called "Cellar Treasures Dinner." Everyone brought special bottles of wines to go with the beautiful food that Chef Bennie and her staff made. There were 2 other breast cancer survivors attending. They are not HER2 positive, but were fascinated with our tale.
The other guests were interested in our story of travels and there was even a cancer researcher from Fred Hutchinson, who was amazed at our tale of love and healing. We were careful to only TASTE the wines, not drink too much as there were so many!
This afternoon we are invited for an over night with Steph's nieces. They have 79 Beanie Babies to introduce us to. We will have a very large tea party! I hear that Alice loves to cook, so wonder what treats will be in store?
We are including a few pics.
1. Bennie asks us what we like to eat.
2. Tip goes for the asparagus soup. But used the wine tasting cup Steph gave her as too hard to hold a spoon!
3. Tex scarfs on the lamb bones. Sylvan helped hold one as the lymphedema sleeve is a little restrictive!

What a neat story about the golden hampster! I just went to the link and read about the story of Tiptoe. Since it is a 'Chinese' hamster, I guess I will share something Chinese.
In the Chinese Zodiac - a way to figure out a person's age and his/her temperament - the mouse is the first one of the 12 animals used for the 12-year cycle. The twelve animals are: mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. 12 x 5 = 60 and Chinese designated it as a life cycle. (Long, long time ago, that was the approximate average life expectency in China)
It was impolite to ask a person's age - in all cultures, I guess - so most Chinese just ask the person his/her zodiac when they try to figure out the age of the person. Then they will compare the zodiac and figure out how much older/younger they are to each other. Kind of a way to start a harmless conversation. The younger one is supposely to 'automatically' yield to the older person in all aspects of decision-making, albeit superficially most of the time.
