Interviews from the European Cancer meeting

The Group Room talks breast
cancer at the joint ECCO15 and 34th ESMO Multidisciplinary Conference

Dear Breast Cancer Advocates,

Vital Options International recorded feature interviews with noted breast oncology opinion leaders at the recent ECCO/ESMO meeting in Berlin.

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to share this content with you, at no charge, for posting on your websites! There is a link provided below.

The discussions explored the research involving HER2-postive breast cancer and HER2+ treatment, such as the current issues regarding the use of non-cytotoxic treatment advances, with emphasis on those who are hormone receptor-positive.

Our featured experts include:
  • José Baselga, MD, PhD - Chairman and Professor of Medicine, Vall D'Hebron Institute of Oncology in Barcelona, Spain; President of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). Dr. Baselga is also the co-author of a recent editorial on "How to Treat Hormone Receptor Positive, HER2 amplified Breast Cancer" in the September 28th online edition of the Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO).
  • C. Kent Osborne, MD, Director of the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine, and Director of the Lester & Sue Smith Breast Center in Houston, Texas, provided us with the USA perspective and how this is relevant to patients here.
  • Maria Paz Fernadez-Ortega, RN, Nursing Research Co-ordinator from the Institut Catala Oncologia in Barcelona, Spain, shared thoughts on communication strategies and issues that patients and providers deal with in Europe.
To make it easy for users of your website, the interviews have been divided into short segments, enabling listeners to go right to the information that most interests them. Short bios and photos are included. Topics addressed are:
  • What is HER2 and Hormone Driven Cancer? How is it Detected?
  • Challenges and Treatment Options
  • Questions You Should Ask Your Physician
  • Your Oncology Nurse
  • Doctor, What are the Implications of a HER2 Positive Diagnosis?
  • Common Patient Questions
  • The Proactive Patient
  • What HER2+ and Hormone Receptor Positive Patients in the U.S. Need to Know

Please just let us know if the posting so we can further promote your organizations as communication partners in breast cancer awareness.

We look forward to providing you ongoing clinical updates in this way and we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Best wishes from Vital Options International & The Group Room
