Here is an amazing quote from this article. Does not mean that most of us HER2 types did not do the recommended things but this is an important statistic for cancers in general:

"Recently researchers from the Mayo Clinic followed nearly 30 000 women from 1986 to 1998 evaluating these recommendations and possible associations between cancer incidence and death from cancer. The researchers reduced the recommendations to 9 mainly related to diet including the following: eating 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables per day; limiting intake of red meat to 3 ounces per day; limiting fat from animal sources; limiting intake of salty foods; limiting intake of alcohol to one drink per day; eating 7 or more servings of complex carbohydrates per day and limiting intake of processed foods; engaging in daily moderate or weekly vigorous physical activity; refraining from smoking; limiting weight gain. The women who followed one or none of these recommendations had a 35% increased risk of developing cancer and a 43% increased risk of death from cancer compared to those who followed 6 to 9 recommendations. Furthermore the results from this study indicate that if individuals adhered to all of these recommendations the incidence of cancer could be reduced by 31% and deaths from cancer could be reduced by 30% in this country for women."
