Anxious

Hi everyone. I just need to talk to people who understood. I had my 6-month CT/Bone scans yesterday and I am so incredibly scared an anxious. I have already called the doctor for results. Just wanted to vent a little. Thanks for letting me do this!

Lisa,

I am praying that your results are good and there is nothing to worry about. I too become a nervous wreck after a test and waiting for results is so stressful.

Sending lots of prayers and positive thoughts your way.

hugs,
shobha

Scanxiety. That's the right word. I am glad you came here to vent. You could try all the natural relaxation techniques -- deep breathing, hot bath. Or you could pop a xanax! I trust that all will be well.

Oh yeah, been there, done that. Believe me, this too shall pass, and whatever the result, you will deal with it. Soon you will know, and the scanxiety will be put off until the next time.

Hugs

OK so the dr. just called. Everything looks good but my lungs. There are nodules at the bottom of both the right and lower lobes. I had pneumonia a month ago so they don't know if they are inflammatory or something else. What should I be doing??? I talked to the nurse but not my doctor. She is supposed to call me later. HELP!!!!!!!!

can't help except to say a prayer for you that this turns out to just be something left from your pneumonia.

I think pneumonia can leave scarring on the lungs as can any bad infection or smoking.
Sorry I can't help you more though, they may just take a watch and wait approach but if it eases your mind call the nurse back and ask to speak to the Dr.
I've heard of this happening before and thankfully it was nothing serious so try not to think the worst hard as it is I know!

I think a happy pill would help and a deep breath. I am sure you will find it is from the pneumonia. Wait till you can talk to doc before you get too excited.

My onc is a scan-a-holic and I appreciate that, so, I vote for a PET scan to see if they show any metabolic activity. The lung dx can be a tricky thing. Have they checked your tumor markers and if so, how are they looking?

My best to you... Darlene

Lisa,

I had a scare last month thinking I might had recurrence on the scar line. My oncologist wanted me to wait, but I
wanted to get rid of the lumps. So I had the surgeon check them out and then she did biopsy and found they were benign.

Your story may just turn out the same way. Have faith.

Lisa,
I can understand your concerns, if this is of any help,
when I was first dx, I had scans done and a small nodule was found on my lung. The way my dr. approached this was to monitor the nodule which we did for 2 yrs.

My dr. explained that their are different types of nodeules, mine was the so called ground glass opacity, non solid elements. (you can see through it) these tend not to be cancer. But these still have to be observed and tracked. So for the last two years we have monitored the nodule. It did go away....

These can come from infections even anesthia. As I went back for my usual check up the dr. found two new small non solid nodules.

We will be tacking these. Lisa I would suggest you ask the dr. the size, they are usually small 1 MM to 4MM,
if the nodule is solid or non solid. Could just be fluid
like a cyst.

I realize these issues are extremely upsetting, but do try to stay calm, ask lots of questions. Your dr. may even suggest a strong anti biodic.

Lisa, often times as we have scans it opens the door to many false readings...hence why the dr. are not keen on having these scans to begin with. You may have had this nodule forever....(I don't know if this was your first CT scan? ) The nodule can even be scarring from past
infections from childhood.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any additional questions. Without knowing your bc history it is difficult to know what tests you have had or what stage you are etc. Maybe you can fill in your signature.
In any event try to stay calm (easier said than done) write down all the questions you wish to discuss with the dr. Is he a lung specialist?
Ask him how he will track? Size of nodule, solid or non solid.

Wishing all the best...
Hugs,
jean

I understand your stress and I'm thinking positive vibes. The only advice I can offer is stay away from those balloons when you are sitting on that many "pins and needles" waiting for results.

Good luck!
