Clinical Trial - Herceptin use in Stage I BC - Post Menopausal Women

I was 47 and post menopausal when DX with Stage I BC. I am HER2 + with ER/PR ++ and 10+ overexpression. The tumor was 1.6 x 1.8 and not clearly defined (2/3). The cancer is the most aggressive grade (3/3). I was fortunate to be included in a trial using Herceptin for early stage BC. I had my 8 rounds of chemo (4 A/C and 4 Taxol with Herceptin) last summer and finished a years worth of Herceptin in June 2006. Needless to say it will be years before we know any results from this trial. Let us hope that we find that now and years from now the use of Herceptin in early stages gives us new hope for increased longevity or maybe even a cure. I feel fine. It has been 1 1/2 years since my diagnosis. My first real follow-up with bloodwork is next month.

Best wishes for health, hope and happiness to all.
