Exclamation First diagnosis stage 4

My Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer on a week ago Monday. She has stage 4 her2+. She has spots on her backbone where the breast cancer has spread. We are heading back to mayo clinic today. She had a PET scan Friday. Hopefully they do not find anything else on scan. MRI detected the spots on backbone due to some back pain she was having which then led to the mammogram.

It has been a whorl wind of a week. Would appreciate any other stage 4 bone met responses to help keep my chin up!

Re: First diagnosis stage 4

I was first diagnosed at Stage IV with Mets to the bone as well.

I never received traditional chemo - I had herceptin and hormonal treatments (my cancer was also ER/PR+) and it's been a bit over 6 years for me.

I wish your mom good luck.

Re: First diagnosis stage 4

My bone mets have been well under control for nearly 5 years now. I do hope your mother has good treatment. There are some good ones out there. Take heart.
