Cool June 13 - madubois63

Hi everyone! I am feeling like a person again. Actually the chemo part was not so bad - it was all the other stuff they did to me. The Hickman catheter is in my neck and caused a hematoma (still very sore). My platelets are sooooooo low and I continue to get transfusions (blood too). They hung the last bag of chemo last night and it will finish dripping around 1 am tonight (yeah). I still haven't gotten the pathology report back on the fluid from my lungs (ugh). Please keep praying on that one!! NO BC, NO BC! I have gotten just about every IV antibiotic known to man (my white counts are .5). They finally decided not to put a chest tube in me (back and forth). The worst part is that every time they decide to put the tube in, it meant no food. Then it would take all night long and the next day for them to change their minds. By then, the kitchen would be closed. I did not eat most of the weekend. I knew I was going to loose a few pounds in here, but I didn't think they were going to starve me...I am now on to the next step - waiting. Day 14 they will do a bone marrow biopsy to decide if I need more chemo or if I get to go home....If I achieve remission in one treatment, I can't leave until my counts reach a certain number..but one step at a time. Thanks for all the mail, well wishes and love. I wish I could answer everyone, but it's just so overwhelming. I love you all!!!

Maryann,
Thank you for the quick update. You remain in my thoughts everyday. Wishing you the absolute best results. The rain has finally cleared in Boston. I hope that you will have some clear sunny views from your room for the next few days.
Best wishes,
Barbara H.

Hi MaryAnn, Thanks for the update, as I came here hoping to find out how you were doing. Just one more day of chemo...yeah. I said it before, but will say it again, "You truly amaze me"!

Don't you hate waiting on those path results...although with all the love, support and prayers coming your way I know it will be good.

Hang in there...it won't be long and you will have all this behind you. I am sending you warm healing thoughts.

Chelee

MaryAnn,

My prayers are with you. I look for your update every day. My best friend has IBC. She had a stem cell transplant seven years ago and has been NED for seven years. She is back at work full time and doing very well.

Maryann,

For you they can open the kitchen--and they better make it good. A catankerous patient is usually a healthy patient so keep that in mind and don't let anyone slow you down -- you NEED the nutrition to keep you making progress. Is your onc making better sense yet?

Affectionately,

AlaskaAngel

Maryann;

So glad to hear from you....we all wait for your posts!! It does sound hopeful...but starvation is a little extreme I agree....lol...(although that really isn't funny). Try to keep your spirits up. Remember that you are going through this to get better! and you will. We're all praying for you.

Hi Maryanne, praying for good results and higher counts. If anyone deserves a positive turn in events it is you. Then again, all of us deserve positive outcomes. Your ability to stay in touch throughout all of this amazes me and is so inspiring and motivating to eveyone. May only good things come your way and look forward to only good news. All my best to a true class 1 woman!
