I have an appt with my dr. next week. I didn't receive herceptin as part of my therapy and am hoping he will be receptive to it. I am halfway through rads right now and know he is going to give me a prescription for tamoxifen. I have briefly heard about her2 and er receptors "cross talking" on the cell surface and the implication that tamoxifen isn't the hormone of choice for those of us her2+. Can anyone brief me or guide me to some lit on this subject?
Also, are there any clinical trials out there for hormone therapy? What about a trial for her2+ and hormonal therapy? I must be looking in the wrong places, because every trial I see is for postmenopausal women.

I read the same re her2 status and tamoxifen not working. In fact, because of that I refused Tamoxifen and at the time that was the only way to get an AI (aromatase inhibitor). However, I did go to UCLA for a 2nd opinion and the dr. there said that either would be good choice. There was some thought at the time that Herceptin might allow Tamoxifen to work. However, if I was concerned about increased risk of blood clots or stroke then I should consider an AI. This was 3 years ago. I have been on Arimidex. I had wanted Femara but the oncologist wasn't willing to prescribe that.
