Post Water Melon

I read in the site what cancer patients & survivors...........to eat and avoid that WATER MELON IS IN THE RECOMMENDED LIST
There are two types of water melon here
one has dark green thick rind or skin . The inside is red and the seeds are large and black. It is very sweet and full of sucrose
The other one is smaller in size, has fairly thin yellow skin. The flesh inside is white and the seeds are like cucumber seeds
My problem is which is the correct ont to give to Hema
Thanks all

Re: Water Melon

Pibikay,
I don't thing there is a significant nutrient difference in the two types of watermelon. I think the article is probably referring to the green one with red center but either would be ok.

Re: Water Melon

Is Hema bothered by sweet flavors? It will be sweet but that sweetness is somewhat diluted by the watery flavor. It really depends on the melon and the time of year. As far as nutritionally speaking, a thick slice of watermelon only has 12g carbohydrates which is less expected given its sweetness.

Re: Water Melon

While both varieties are good for you, the pink/red one contains lycopene, which gives it its color. Lycopene has been shown to have anti-breast tumor properties.
