The San Diego Chargers have partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego to provide free mammograms to dozens of uninsured women.

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a cause that really hits close to home for me,” A.G. Spanos, the Chargers’ executive vice president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “My mom is a breast cancer survivor and from her experience I know how vital early detection can be. I encourage women to call and learn if they qualify for a free mammogram because early detection saves lives.”

The team will be underwriting the cost of free mammograms and breast exams for 70 women under the age of 40 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Qualcomm Stadium. Additional women may be able to receive mammograms at a later date, and women under 40 will be directed to other resources for help.

Women can call 619-508-8088 for information about qualifying to participate.

Well . . . I'm thrilled to come across a post that explains how to get free mammograms - but, what? I'm so confused. Only for women under 40? and then women under 40 will be directed to other resources?

I'm sure it is a typo, but will the women who qualify call - likely not. It is just too unclear.

Bummer.
