Anyone on a Dr Gonzales protocol

Several friends have mention Dr-Gonzales.com to me. I was wondering if anyone has experience with his treatment program or other alternative or supportive programs with any amount of success.

Thanks.

Wink Re: Anyone on a Dr Gonzales protocol

I am so sorry you are having some problems keeping cancer under control. I never heard of Dr.Gonzales.
However, that said I would not give up conventional treatment entirely. I would find a good opportunity to combine conventional treatments with complementary treatments and support. I have a nautropathic physician N. D. LaC in addition to my M. D.s.
There are several hospitals in the U. S. that provide that service like M. D. Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Cancer Treatment Centers of America come to mind, but there are others too. I think Cancer Treatment Centers of America has a branch in Washington State. If you still have the skin mets you might be interested in contacting the University of Washington Tumor Group in Seattle. They are doing a trial combining Abraxane chemo and Immiquimod (Aldara)cream for skin mets. Immiquimod cream is an immune response activator. I put the links to that trial in a couple other places on this site. I think one of those places is the Clinical Trial Section. The other one is either the inflammatory breast cancer or the her2 section.
There is an up and coming drug, T DM1 which has helped alot of her2 positive people with mets outside of the breast. If you go to clinicaltrials.gov and do a search on T DM1 you can get more information about where
T DM1 trials are available. You and your doctor might want to check into that.
Good luck. Above all else keep putting one foot in front of the other and remain proactive and asssertive about your health care. It helps.

Re: Anyone on a Dr Gonzales protocol

Elaine:

Thank you for your encouraging words of support. I am trying to hang in there. I will be talking to my oncologist about the work of the UW tumor vaccine group and whether we can address the skin mets through/as a trial participant if the tykerb and xeloda (once I can go back on chemo after I am done with WBRT) does not do the trick. Also, there is the future promise of TDM 1

I have also started working with a naturopath and acupuncturist to support me in this journey.

Taking it one day at a time....

Sharon

Re: Anyone on a Dr Gonzales protocol

Sharon,
You have probably already done some research on the Gonzales protocal but I thought I'd paste a link from the NIH below.

http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/p.../Patient/page2

I agree that combining conventional therapy with complementary care is the best approach. I would suggest you work with an oncology dietitian (RD) also if you are not already involved with one. If you need help locating someone near you I'd be happy to help.

Best Wishes,
Tanya
