Smile Hello everyone

Hello ladies,

I really hope things have been going okay in my absence ......have been extremely busy with mom n my work and managing the house.

Mom s done with her six chemos(cant believe that) and is on her 08th Herceptin now !!!!

Thing is she is on Femara for two months now since the chemo has ended,Its that she is getting terrible pain in her legs since the past week or so(the Femara,i know) Her oncologist has asked for a bone density scan before her next Herceptin cycle...

I am just very worried Does this mean her calcium level is dangerously low ????? something I should worry about ????? Please do advise ....

Re: Hello everyone

I have had several bone densities since on Femara. I also had joint pain from both herceptin and femara. I have been advised from my pcp, oncologist and ob gyn to take calcium regularly which I do. i also take glucosamine for the joint pain and lots of Vit d. The drugs play havoc on our bodies and can strip calcium but my scans have been fine. They just like to monitor to make sure we are getting what our body needs . I wouldn't stress over it, just another precaution. Always ask her doc before taking any over the counter vitamins but the glucosamine has helped me tremendously. Congrats on completing the chemo and what a great daughter and support system you r .

Re: Hello everyone

Dont' be worried! It's normal that femera would cause bone pain and it's also normal that they do density scans. None of that means they suspect mets in the slightest. Femera can be a very tough drug to take, and it sounds like she's doing good!

Re: Hello everyone

My Onc told me also to take Glucosamine/chondroitin which can help but you need to be taking it about six weeks to notice a difference.
