blood "clot" in nose

I am sharing this in case it can help someone else. After my 2nd Navelbine treatment I had a very uncomfortable scabby, bloody thing in my nose. If I blew it out it grew back very quickly. I tried letting it heal and it got bigger and bigger and felt like I had a bean in my nose.

A friend suggested I try a steptic pencil. I had immediate relief from taking the clot out and using the wetted pencil. I could breathe last night and I woke up with no clot this morning. After a week of this bean in my nose I am so grateful for it being gone.

Hope you're not all laughing at my "bean" story. It was uncomfortable. I had complained to my husband about it a bunch, but a picture is worth a 1,000 words. When he saw the actual thing he was surprised how big it was. TMI.

Happy Friday!

Joyce

Re: blood "clot" in nose

what is a steptic pencil? (i suppose i should google it!) i, too, had a blood clot/scab in one nostril for ages and ages during TCH treatment. so maddening. the only thing that ever helped with A & D ointment. even now,18 months after treatment, that spot lingers like a scab that will just never ever go away.

Re: blood "clot" in nose

Hi V-ness,

A steptic pencil is something used to make bleeding stop. I got mine @ Walgreens in the section where you buy razors. It is commonly used to stop the bleeding when you cut yourself shaving.

The blood clot IS extremly maddening. Using the pencil is the only thing that has worked for me...might want to ck w/ your Dr., b/c I'm just a desperated person who wanted the bean out of my nose, but hey, it worked for me.
