Breast Cancer Stamps

I recently sent out an email to my friends and family ecouraging them to purchase breast cancer stamps. They are $ 11. per sheet. I had a recent conversation with our local postmaster and he said he thought that most if not all of the difference in price goes to research. His son is an oncolgist at Dana Farber in Boston so I assume this information is acuurate.
Many people that I wrote to said they were unaware that they even existed. Think about the enormous effect just purchasing the stamps would make if all our friends and their friends and families purchsed them on a regular basis. They cost a little over a dollar than just the run of the mill stamps. I've bought them since I was diagnosed in '04.
Just a thought....

Some people won't pay the extra t get the BC Stamps...probably because they have never walked in our shoes...one thing I did learn though, they are like the forever stamps...even if postage goes up, they are still good, so tell people to buy these instead of the forever stamps!

Hi Carol,

I just wanted to add that my bs, Dr. Ernie Bodai, pioneered the idea for the breast stamp. The proceeds have funded millions of dollars for research. He is sure that there will be a bc vaccine within the next ten years!

Hugs,
Lexi

Talking Carol & Company...

These stamps went up from last year and are now .55 each or $11 per sheet as stated. When I asked the Postmaster the breakdown of proceeds he mentioned that they went up this year so that the proceeds would too. Research has taken the original proceeds and the difference in the new rate, now they are donating more money for this cause. Many people do buy them from what I gathered from him, although I thought the opposite was true.

I know many of you are 'breast cancered out' but nothing looks better in the mail than my envelope with the BC stamp and my return pink ribbon, 'Male Breast Cancer Supporter' return label!! But that is just ME!! Tehehe!>>Believe51

I too have been using these stamps since DX as well as my entire family. I tell friends that they cost a little more, but for those who cannot afford a large lump sum donation this is the easiest way to contribute that does not break your bank account.

I love the stamps...

I just think they are so pretty, and it's a great bonus that the extra money goes to research. My little rural post office seems to be out of them most of the time.

My mother in law was a patient of Dr. Ernie Bodai, as Lexigirl was, for breast cancer surgery. There is a huge fundraiser each year in his honor for breast cancer here in Sacramento with celebrities appearing and donating all the funds to research. We went to one that featured Wayne Brady and it was wonderful.

Have a great day, buy stamps!

Donna
