Re: Questions - vaccine

Eva I would ask your oncologist for a referral to any place that is close by that may offer you something. I still have 5 months of Herceptin and asked my Oncologist about trials and she said that there is nothing out there for me right now while I'm in treatment and responding well to it, however once I'm done with herceptin in February of 2015 then she will send me to Standford to meet with doctors that run these trials and see if there is something for me.

Re: Questions - vaccine

Nurse4u2day, thanks for the reply on both messages. I saw MD Anderson runs a trial or did and that's where I'm being treated. Maybe they will talk to me about it once I get closer to that time. Still finishing my neoadjuvant chemo, we have pretty much the same treatment except I have perjta added in there.

As soon as I'm done with chemo we will do a lymph node biopsy and see if there are any cancer cells left then we will decide about rads as I'm in a grey area.

Thanks again for your replies!

Eva

Re: Questions - vaccine

Hi Eva,
I researched the vaccine trials in my area while I was going through AC. What I found was that some trials need you to be on Herceptin while you get the vaccine and others have a max amount of months after completing Herceptin. The one I'm on had a a max of six months after finishing Herceptin. I signed up a month after I finished. I know a member on here did the trial based in Baltimore and she had to do it while on Herceptin. So you should definitely check now and read up on all your options.

Re: Questions - vaccine

There are two that I am familiar with for early stage for Neuvax.

This one is in conjuction with Herceptin:

http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/sh...vaccine&rank=1

The other that was after Herceptin might be in Phase III trials eventually. I'm fairly certain this was the one Dr. Elizabeth Mittendorf and the military were working on. We will be watching Galena Biopharma for upcoming news.

I believe it is too early for AE37 and GP2 for the higher expressors for Phase III. The lower expressors of Her2 are ahead of us in the trials, but you never know. I am expecting great news from the vaccines and am looking forward to more progress in this area.
