Re: Gasping for breath...

Geetanjali,

Come here to 'vent' anytime! We are listening. I'm a survivor myself, but I've seen the anguish of my 2nd Sister when she was here taking care of me after my sugery in 2007.

There's another 'regular' caregiver (pibikay) who is also from India. You might have seen his postings about 'Hema', his beloved wife for many, many years. 'Loveher' has made many beautiful postings on the board while taking of her Mom. There used to be a 'psychologist' ('Colleen's Husband')posting about his wife's bc journey regularly. Haven't seen him for a while now that his wife has been cancer free. You will find many of them in the following thread: http://her2support.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=35015

'Breathing' is good. Always remember to breathe...

Sending you good vibes...

Re: Gasping for breath...

Geetanjali - during the time we (I use "we" because of all the people I love and who love me that were affected by my cancer diagnosis) were actively battling against this awful disease, that I'd rather be the one with the cancer than watching someone I love deal with it. It's frustrating and infuriating - but that's okay. Whatever you feel - anger, sadness, fear - you need to let it happen and then use it to fight. Your mom is so blessed to have you with her. My daughter was able to empathisize with me in ways my husband couldn't. She has a daughter and that fear of this disease for the future can be terrible. But she helped me at the worst of times and we rejoice together today that we've come through such a trial together. Your mom seems strong because she can draw strength from you and others who care for her - but she'll have bad moments and days too. So sorry you are having these thoughts today but each day as you move forward will bring you closer to the time when she will be cancer free and healthy again. Come here anytime and let it all out - and you never have apologize to us.

Re: Gasping for breath...

Ok, hello, everyone. Harpreet here. Geeta's brother and Gaver's son. I just wanted to let you all know that mom's staples were removed yesterday. And it was a very good day. We breathed easy and even prepared for the upcoming festival of Diwali that is next week. Today mom was going to go and meet a diabetologist and ask him questions on the TCH regime she is beginning on 16th.

However...

Today morning after her bath she noticed that the wound has a small opening of about an inch in the suture line.

It has no bleeds but it is open and so we are rushing her to casualty. Has anyone gone through this? Is this a sign of any complication? Will she require further stitches or just a sterie strip or a bandage? Should we push the chemo date back - I was constantly telling the doctor that she should be allowed some time to heal and we should start her chemo around November end at least, but he was insistent that the chemo start soon. I don't know what to do. If anyone could please advise.
